Knysna Celtic Festival – Saturday 27th February 2016

We are very pleased to be announcing the second Knysna Celtic Festival!

This event is again taking place on the same day as the Sundowners Celtic & Bluegrass Concert. Last year’s inaugural festival was beyond our wildest dreams and proved to be very successful with well over 2,000 people lining Knysna’s Main Road to watch the Slow-to-Quick March Competition (the only competition of it’s kind in South Africa!) and the Massed Pipes & Drums Parade; over 1,500 people attending the Daytime Events and over 1,500 people coming along to watch our Concert

We are all very excited about this year’s festival and below is the full programme of events:

Saturday 27th February

Place: Main Road Knysna (the N2, between Pledge Square and Memorial Square)

Time: 9.15 am – 10.30 am

Cost: FREE! – Please come along and give your support to this event! Bring your family, friends, neighbours, and even random strangers that you have just met!

We invite you to come and line the street for an hour to witness this truly amazing spectacle as we make history in Knysna for the second year…

Highlights:      A March Past by up to 10 Pipe Bands along Knysna’s Main Street

                   followed by

                    A Massed Pipes & Drums Parade with 150+ pipers, drummers,

Highland, Irish & Scottish Country dancers from all over SA

This event is unique to Knysna, was a huge hit last year and once again promises to be a spectacular event; definitely not to be missed! Please ensure that you all come along to watch!

Venue: Loerie Park, George Rex Drive, Knysna

Time: 11.00 am – 3.00 pm

Entrance Fee: Adults – R30, Children – R15

                   Regional 3D Archery Tournament – being organised by

the Knysna Outdoor Archery Circuit (KOAC)

Our Celtic Village returns and in the Food Court there will be a variety of local vendors selling delicious lunchtime food so please do plan to have your lunch at Loerie Park to support them! The Arts & Crafts area this year includes a kilt outfitter; and of course no festival would be complete without our Mitchell’s Brewery beer garden with live Celtic music throughout the day from Cape Town musicians Jenny & The Jameses, Christy-Lyn and Myddle Earth

Food & Beverages: As mentioned in our flyer there will also be great food & dinner! – we have arranged for some high quality evening vendors to tantalise your taste buds – so please do plan to have your dinner during the concert to support all of our wonderful local food vendors, thank you! AND to get us all into the party mood so that we can all have a rip-roaringly good time, the Mitchell’s Celtic Pub will be serving beer, cider, wine & other refreshments throughout the whole concert

NB: No cooler boxes, food or drinks are allowed to be brought into the grounds of Loerie Park, for either the Day Events or the Concert, thank you

If you haven’t already bought your tickets for the Sundowners Celtic & Bluegrass Concert please go get them asap (seating is limited)! – and please remember that all seating is allocated in order of date of purchase, i.e. those buying their tickets earlier will be seated nearer the front than those buying their tickets later.
